A GEOLOGICAL POEM
THE ABSOLUTE BEAUTY

With Douro and Tua rivers at its feet, vineyards as far as the eye can see standing in imposing terraces, surrounded by olive groves and pine forests, we present you Casal de Tralhariz: a paradise lost in the memories of other times, when tranquility and serenity were still part of everybody’s life. The ringing of the church bell, the baker’s horn and the rhythm of conversations between neighbours are, around here, still a reality. Come and rediscover the pleasure of a simple, healthy life, in communion with Nature, in the beautiful place of Tralhariz, inside the Castanheiro do Norte village.

We will be delighted to welcome and introduce you to all the hidden treasures of this still unexplored region: the excellent gastronomy, world-renowned wines, places of historical and archaeological interest, water activities, hiking trails and the ever-present beauty of the landscapes of Douro Valley and Tua Valley Natural Park, on routes you won’t find in tourist guides.

THE REGION
AND ITS SURROUNDINGS

Douro Valley

Inserted in the Superior Douro Region, a World Heritage Site, Casal de Tralhariz Quinta is an excellent starting point for exploring the entire Douro Valley. Century old vineyards, renowned wines, river trips, a rich gastronomy and the friendliness of its people, some reasons to live the experience of a lifetime.

Tua Valley Natural Park

Located in the heart of Tua Natural Park, Casal de Tralhariz Quinta rises above the mouth of Tua river, at its confluence with Douro. With several signposted pedestrian routes from the property, make your stay a time of healthy proximity to Nature in its purest state, contemplating the beautiful landscapes of ‘Trás-os-Montes’ and its incredible biodiversity.

Carrazeda de Ansiães

A typically rural municipality, with a wide variety of agricultural resources, where wine, olive oil and apples are the most visible products. Being an ancient land, counts on several points of archaeological and historical interest. It’s also where you can find all kinds of commerce, at a comfortable distance from the property (10 min by car). In August, the ‘Apple, Wine and Olive Oil Fair’ takes place here, one of the highlights in the Cultural life of the Council.

Tua Train station

Very close to the property, Tua station offers one of the most beautiful and efficient forms of locomotion within the region: the train. Whether on the daily connections or on a historic train, going down the river from Tua to Pinhão or Régua, or going up to Pocinho, this is an experience that will stay in your memory.

The sublime Douro. The prodigy of a landscape that ceases to be by virtue of being outsized. It is not a panorama that the eyes contemplate: it’s an excess of nature.
